Dr. Kayleigh McMillan

Clinical Psychologist

I’m Kayleigh, a Clinical Psychologist passionate about supporting children, young people, and families.

Before becoming a Clinical Psychologist, I worked in various roles, including as a support worker for individuals with complex needs. These experiences broadened my understanding of the challenges people face and strengthened my commitment to helping those in distress. With over a decade of experience in the NHS, I’ve gained extensive knowledge working with children, adults, and families across a wide range of mental health concerns. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2023 at the University of Southampton, and my work is anchored in compassion, collaboration, and respect for each person’s unique strengths.

I believe that each individual has inner resilience and resources, even if they’re not immediately visible. My role is to help bring these strengths to light, empowering clients to make meaningful changes aligned with their values and goals. By reconnecting with what truly matters, clients can find a renewed sense of direction and balance, even through challenging times.

While I can offer guidance and tools for your journey, I believe true, lasting change comes from within. I take a holistic approach, considering the whole person and recognising the connection between body, mind, and the larger social and cultural context. I often incorporate mindfulness and compassionate methods, drawing on evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to provide personalised, effective care.

I understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting, especially during difficult times. My goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to make positive changes in your life.I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Raised in Dorset, I feel fortunate to be close to the sea and love spending time outdoors. Being in nature, whether walking through the countryside or exploring new trails, grounds me and brings a sense of calm. I’m passionate about staying active through CrossFit and running, and I enjoy any opportunity to be outdoors and on the move.
